TEHRAN - Franc’s major automaker Renault has consented to the changes demanded by Iran to be made in the contract for domestically manufacturing of the passenger car Logan (L90). The changes were mainly related to the issue of exports of the car.

Renault officially agreed with the conditions set by Iran in the terms of the contract most important of which is the export of 20 percent of the production in Iran, noted Mohsen Shaterzadeh, an official at Iran’s Ministry of Industries and Mines.

He predicted that the contract would be reviewed and finalized within the next two weeks.

Following the lengthy discussions at the Majlis (parliament), it was decided that the French company should make four changes to its contract with Iran so that it would be able to start working with the nation.

Renault has teamed up with Iran as part of a joint-venture to build the bare-bones L90, however, the Iranian authorities have nixed the plan over a disagreement on the export futures of the car. The French company has pledged to work with the Iranian government to resolve the problems, as some $800-million worth of contracts with local firms hang in the balance.
